In the study to understand detransition, sexual orientation was asked.

It is difficult to interpret the results because it is not clear, for example, what the answers "heterosexual" or "homosexual" mean.

Take the case of someone who is FtM (or AFAB, designated female at birth) and responds that they have a heterosexual orientation. To what sex are they attracted?

Suppose this person is sexually attracted to men.

Then, this person could respond "heterosexual" with respect to their designated sex at birth, but could respond "homosexual" with respect to their current "gender identity."

Since the study does not specify how the question was phrased, it is impossible to accurately assess the results regarding the participants' sexual orientation.

Thank you for this summary of your upcoming paper. I found it impossible to understand your findings without knowing how you recruited your sample. Unfortunately this means that in this format it’s not possible for you to reject existing claims about detransition. I look forward to reading the complete paper.
